Passport and Consular Outreach

Outreach Events

The Australian High Commission and Australian Consulates occasionally visit other cities in Canada to conduct passport interviews as part of an outreach program. The number of visits are limited, only a small number of locations are visited each year and we do not visit each province. We aim to maintain an annual schedule however visits occur only when required for official business purposes.

We aim to provide 1-2 months’ notice of a confirmed outreach program, which we advertise on this web page and through our Facebook and Twitter accounts.

At this time, this is the only confirmed outreach date for Calgary.

  • Processing time to receive a new passport is up to six weeks
  • If you already have planned travel, you should make immediate arrangements to lodge your passport application(s) at one of our regular passport offices in Canada (Ottawa, Toronto or Vancouver). 


  • All clients attending a passport appointment at an outreach program are required to wear a face mask. While COVID-19 restrictions vary by province, we ask this for the safety of our clients and our staff. You should continue to monitor and follow all local COVID-19 requirements mandated in the province where the outreach program is being held. 
  • Only the passport applicant should attend the passport appointment, unless assistance is otherwise required.
  • For child applications (child under age 16) only the lodging parent should attend the appointment if possible.
  • Children aged 16 and 17 are required to attend with the lodging parent.

This includes, but is not limited to, outreach staff flight cancellations or delays, bad weather, consular crisis or operational requirements that greatly impact our resources, OR any COVID-19 restrictions implemented by provincial or federal governments. You should be aware that the Australian High Commission and Australian Consulates in Canada will not reimburse your travel expenses.  Should an outreach program be cancelled unexpectedly, we will do our utmost to contact clients as soon as possible so alternate arrangements can be made to lodge your application in Ottawa, Toronto or Vancouver, or subsequently at a future outreach program.
