Travelling to Australia

Australia is a large continent of many contrasts. We are well known for our iconic outback and stunning beaches, but do you know about our vibrant cultural life, cosmopolitan cities, tropical rainforests and snow fields?

Tourism Australia’s official website provides planning tools and a wide range of travel information in nine different languages.

All travellers, except New Zealand citizens, must obtain a visa or travel authority before travelling to Australia.

For information on bringing items into Australia click here.

Information about what items must be declared for inspection on arrival in Australia is available from the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources.

The Tourist Refund Scheme enables you to claim a refund, subject to certain conditions, of the goods and services tax (GST) and wine equalisation tax (WET) pertaining to non-food items purchased in Australia.
