Victorian State Election – 24 November 2018
The Victorian State election will be held on Saturday, 24 November 2018. For full details on the election, including enrolment and voting while overseas, visit the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) website or call the VEC directly on: +61 3 8620 1100.
You must be correctly enrolled before 8:00pm (AEDT) on Tuesday, 6 November 2018, in order to be eligible to vote. To enrol or verify your enrolment details, visit the VEC website.
It is not compulsory to vote if you are not in Victoria during the voting period. If you are travelling overseas on election day and are unable to vote, you can advise the VEC by completing a Traveller Notification Form.
Postal Voting: You can apply online for a postal vote from Wednesday, 31 October 2018 until 6:00pm (AEDT) on Wednesday 21 November 2018. Please note your completed postal vote must be postmarked on or before 6:00pm (AEDT) on Saturday, 24 November 2018 and reach the VEC no later than 6:00pm (AEDT) on Friday, 30 November 2018.
Overseas Voting: In Canada, in-person early voting services will only be available at the Australian Consulate-General in Toronto and the Australian Consulate in Vancouver. In-person voting will not be available in Canada on Saturday 24 November 2018. A full list of overseas voting centres will be available online from 31 October 2018.

Voting while overseas
Please visit the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) website for complete information on enrolment procedures and voting in federal elections while overseas. You may also contact the AEC by e-mail (email@example.com) or by telephone (+61 2 6160 2600). Overseas residents may subscribe to the AEC mailing list in order to receive notifications of future federal elections and referendums.
Registering as an overseas voter
If you are already enrolled to vote and are living overseas, you may register as a postal voter. As a registered postal voter, you will receive a postal vote in the mail after the announcement of a federal election.
If you are unable to vote
You may complete and submit an overseas notification form if you are unable to vote in an election while overseas. The form may be completed at any time and provides you with an option to be removed from the electoral roll while you are overseas.
