Temporary Employment Register

Temporary Employment Register

The Temporary Employment Register (TER) is open to candidates to submit an expression of interest for temporary, non-ongoing employment at the Australian High Commission (AHC). The TER enables us to temporarily employ appropriately highly skilled, motivated and experienced individuals at short notice for short - term (fixed term) contracts.

Temporary Contracts

Temporary employment opportunities arise from time to time for a number of reasons including:

  • when permanent staff members in essential positions take leave;
  • during the period prior to filling a vacancy; or
  • to manage fluctuations in workloads.

Temporary vacancies are usually filled on a short-term contract basis from those listed on the Australian High Commission's Temporary Employment Register. Employment opportunities may be offered on a full-time, part-time or intermittent/irregular (casual) basis depending on business needs and requirements. The AHC reserves the right to terminate a temporary staff member’s employment at any time.

How to Apply

Please submit your online temporary employment application form (Word PDF) and up-to-date resume which includes details of your employment history and contact information of referees details to [email protected]. If you are offered a temporary position, a Probity and Police clearance for all countries that you have resided in for over six months in the past five years is required if you have not worked for the AHC in the past three months.

To be considered for temporary work, applicants must complete the temporary employment application form, with start dates dependant on satisfactory background checks.

Note: Applications are kept on file for 12 months. Your application will be considered when temporary vacancies arise and decisions are based on suitability, availability, and/or the possession of a security clearance (if required by the position).

Only Canadian citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for employment at the AHC. Individuals will be required to present proof of their status before an offer is made.
